The Dryhead Schively Ranch wants all of our guests who bring children under 12 years old to plan on an exciting and fun adventure for their Little Buckaroos. Our horses are the very best to help teach kids basic riding skills and horse grooming. Some of our rides are just for kids: slow and safe. Some of our rides are with the adults: challenging and full of working cows.

One of our best hikes goes to the Buffalo Jump dated back to the 1700 - 1800. We share just enough history and tradition of the American Indian and add just enough excitement of the western lifestyle to perk any child’s imagination. Back in the 1700’s American Indians ran buffalo off of the edge of the canyon wall hoping to kill several buffalo so their families would have meat and cloths. There are bones, scrapers, pictographs, teepee rings, and arrowheads to search for. And of course exciting stories to share!

We have great kid entertainment: sand box, gentle creek running through the yard (bring old tennis shoes to walk in the creek with), roping lessons, hot dog roast, stick horse races, just plain open spaces and fun, fun, fun.

The Little Buckaroo Weeks are between middle of July and end of August. We have special rates for groups of four or more. We take into consideration childrens ages and their abilities. So check out the "rates page" / "ranch weeks" and give us a call.
